What is Ayurverda?

ayurvedic meditation

Ayurveda is the “science of life,” a more than 5,000 year-old holistic system of healthcare from India. Ayurveda offers a comprehensive approach to healing, detoxification and rejuvenation; with methods for identifying and healing the root causes of illness, rather than merely treating its symptoms.
With its knowledge of three basic life energies, or doshasVata, Pitta and Kapha – Ayurveda offers a very personal approach to health for each individual. One of Ayurveda’s most unique and valuable features is that it shows us each how to create balance in our lives, through the proper choices of food, herbs, massage, meditation, yoga, aromas, sounds, self-realization and lifestyle.
Ayurveda suggests if you live a balanced life, you may never get sick.
Ayurveda is not a religion or a sect. It’s like yoga.
It is universal and anyone can practice an Ayurveda lifestyle in all cultures around the world.
Balance is the keystone of Ayurveda. In order to be healthy and happy there has to be a balance between your body and mind. Prominent advocates like Deepak Chopra, Dr. Vasant Lad, Yogi Amrit Desai, Tirlok Malik and many others have moved this system of preventive healthcare into the mainstream.
